Motion Control Products offer a family of torque motors (also known as direct drive rotary motors (DDR)), using iron-core or coreless technology. Torque motors or direct drive rotary motors (DDR) are the motors that are designed to drive loads directly without the need of any transmission mechanism, such as gears or belts. They use high energy permanent magnets to generate high torque.

These brushless motors have zero cogging, ensuring very smooth motion even at low speeds (low velocity ripple). The low inductance of the motor coils also means faster response and settling. The models in the torque motors family include: ADR (ADR-A series, ADR-P series and ADR-B series) and AXD in the iron-core range and ACD & ACW in the ironless range.

The frame size of the torque motors (in diameter) varies from 62mm, 80mm, 110mm, 135mm, 175mm, 220mm, 360mm, up to 400mm. All the motors are integrated with high resolution encoder, with options of 81,920 counts/rev, 819,200 counts/rev or SINCOS (can be interpolated to 8,388,608 counts/rev).

Our torque motors (direct drive rotary (DDR) motors) typically use optical incremental encoders for feedback. However, other options are available, such as resolvers, absolute encoders and inductive encoders. Please contact our technical sales team for more detailed information.
