The Challenge:

The project involved a radar system demanding high precision and stability for effective moving target tracking, communications, and satellite image locking. 

The key requirements included:  

High Accuracy and Stability: Essential for precise moving target tracking and communication. 

Compliance with MIL Standards: Necessary for deploying radar installations in harsh environments, generally in the military market. 

High EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) Shielding: Required to protect sensitive electronics and ensure the safety of operators in systems with significant emissions. 

Radar antennas find applications across various fields such as airborne antennas, mobile and portable panels, maritime SATCOM (satellite communications) antennas, gimbal antennas, radar applications, satellite terminals (MEO, LEO, GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) & HEO) and payload antennas.

The solution:

To address these challenges, Celera Motion implemented the Ingenia i195A servo drive. This solution, optimised for high-speed broadband antennas and radar turntables, offered the following features: 

Rugged Communication Protocols: Including RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, or Ether CAT. 

Harsh Environment Testing: Ensuring system reliability through extreme shock and vibration tests, extended temperature ranges, and tolerance to dust, humidity, and pressure.  

Outstanding Performance: Critical for airborne, maritime, and SATCOM antenna systems.
